Hi guys, so, we have had varying success using Facebook adverts. For me its a great tool and helped us gain more followers, and a lot more business. Before you even start with an ad campaign, its important to have your business properly setup, this means, have a professional, good looking logo and Facebook cover image, much like the example below:

This makes your page a lot more attractive to potential customers and fans.

Next is to decide on what kind of campaign you want, weather its to promote a post, or an image post, or to promote the entire page to get more likes. They are both similar, but we will use an example of a page advert.

Step 1. Have your advert image ready. Facebook are very strict on how much text you can have on an advert image, so use it wisely. (You can check your image using Facebook’s text checker here.  Its best to use a great image and few words to get the message across. Facebook specs are:

  • Recommended image size:
    1200 x 444 pixels
  • Image ratio: 8:3
  • Your image may not include more than 20% text.

Here is an example of our advert image:

Step 2. Prepare your campaign.

A: Starting from your personal facebook page, click on the upper right down pointing arrow, and click on “Manage Adverts” in the drop down menu. This will take you to facebooks new advert manager.

B: Once there, click “Create advert” and choose which suits you best from their list, we chose promote page:

C:  Set audience and budget. This is pretty self explanatory and will differ for each business. Do some market research before hand to determine who your target audience should be. This part can get quite deep, but if you get it right, you will receive the maximum likes for you budget.

D: Set your image. Upload the advert image to the campaign. this should be the one you created to Facebook’s specifications earlier. Facebook will tell you here if your image is usable, or whether you need to remove more text.

E: Place your order. Again, easy, you can pay via credit card or paypal.

Once all of the steps above are complete, Facebook will either approve or disapprove the advert. If approved, your advert should start running. Give it a couple of hours to settle in, and you should start receiving likes. I hope this has been of some help, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask in the comments below.
