Short answer: the logo trends worth following in 2027 are the practical ones. A mark that stays clear at tiny sizes, a small family of logo versions (full, simplified and icon), one distinctive color, and a simple idea that is truly yours. Flashier styles like motion and retro revivals are optional extras, not a reason to redo a logo that already works.
Every year, logo trend lists appear, and most are written by companies with something to sell. We sell logos too, so take our view with that in mind. We design logos for small businesses every week, and here is what we would actually pay attention to. One thing to know first: the 2027 trend reports are not out yet. What follows is a forecast, built mostly on 2026 trend reports, and we have labelled it that way.
What are the main logo design trends for 2027?
The forecasts we have read point the same way: logos built for small screens, logos that come in more than one version, and a little more personality. One 2027 forecast lists twelve directions. These five matter most for a small business.
1. Small-size-first design
Start from the browser tab icon, the app icon and the social profile picture, then scale up. If a mark falls apart at the size of a browser tab, it is too detailed. Clean vector files scale to any size without losing quality, which is why we explain them in our guide to logo file types.
2. A family of logos, not one file
Think of three versions: the full logo, a simplified one for tight spaces, and an icon-only version. Together with your colors and fonts, they make up a complete brand identity.
3. Color as a main identifier
A distinctive color that people recognize before they read your name is a cheap and powerful asset. Pick one main color, and use it everywhere.
4. Confident simplicity
The strongest marks have one idea that is clearly yours. Tabasco’s branding is built from two shapes and three colors, and you would know the bottle from across a restaurant. We wrote about why that works in the simple design of the Tabasco brand.
5. A little human texture
Hand-drawn lines and deliberate imperfection are back. Used sparingly, they make a brand feel like it was made by people. Used heavily, they disappear when the logo shrinks. This is one reason we still prefer a human designer over an AI logo maker.
Which logo trends are optional?
Motion logos. Logos designed to animate make sense if video or an app is central to your business. If you are a local trade or a consultancy, a static logo that looks great is enough.
Retro and maximalist styles. Shopify’s 2026 round-up lists maximalism, funky typefaces and 2000s nostalgia. They are fun in a campaign. They are risky as the foundation of a brand you want to keep for ten years. Trends date quickly, and our own 2016 logo trends post is a good reminder of that.
How do I know if my logo needs updating?
Ask yourself four questions:
- Does it stay clear at the size of a browser tab?
- Does it work in one color, and on a dark background?
- Does it look the same on your website, your social profiles and your print?
- Do you have the original vector file?
If you answered no to two or more, it is probably time for a refresh. If your logo only exists as an AI-generated file, we can recreate it as clean vector files.
Frequently asked questions
Should a small business follow logo trends?
Only the practical ones. Following fashion alone is not a reason to change a logo. A logo that is simple, memorable and works at every size will outlast any trend.
When should I update my logo?
There is no fixed schedule. Most logos need a refresh when the business changes, or when the logo stops working in new places, such as small sizes or new platforms.
Can you design a logo in a trending style?
Yes. Tell us the style you like in your brief, and show us examples. Our guide to writing a good design brief explains how.
How much does a logo cost at Logoglo?
Our logo design packs start at $75, and you receive your first concepts within 48 hours. See our logo packs and prices, or find out how the process works.
The bottom line
Choose a logo that works at every size, comes in more than one version and has one clear idea behind it. Add a trend on top if you love it, but do not build your brand on one. Want to see what that looks like in practice? Browse our logo design portfolio, or get in touch.
